Charles Settlement House ($2,000)
This poverty focused project provides personal care items to low-income individuals primarily in the Northwest quadrant of the City of Rochester.
Charles Settlement House operates a Family Services program providing food, clothing and other basic needs. Personal care and hygiene items are often requested but are generally not available, and this grant would help provide these necessities.
Highland Family Planning ($1,000)
This community engagement project provides training to youth who will be peer to peer educators on sexual health.
Highland Family Planning plans to train youth to serve as peer educators and produce mini Public Service Announcements aimed at educating the community on latest sexual health trends.
RocMusic Collaborative Music ($2,500)
This education program offers classical music instruction and instrument lessons at the Edgerton Recreation Center in the City of Rochester for low-income students.
ROCmusic is an innovative outreach and education program inspired by the El Sistema music education model that transforms the lives of young people through their involvement in music. ROCmusic is a joint project of UR Eastman School of Music, Hochstein School of Music and Dance, Eastman Community Music School, City of Rochester, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Rochester City School District.
Volunteers of America ($2,000)
This education program offers a week-long youth camp that is staffed by emergency service volunteers.
VOA’s Camp HEROES is a free summer camp staffed solely by volunteer law enforcement officers and firefighters that provides inner city youths from impoverished households with a week of fun, skill-building and life-changing activities and experiences.
